As a result all classrooms include a group of learners who have mixed abilities, mixed interests and mixed learning styles. Differentiation is a key method for ensuring that all learners are being challenged to reach their potential. However, this can be time-consuming to prepare, and difficult to manage in classes where children are young, and are pre- or early readers and writers.
