How do we witness history in the making? What happens when a writer trades detachment for immediacy and places themselves at the very heart of a political revolution?

In the August edition of our Literature & War series, we will dive into Ten Days That Shook the World,  by John Reed. An American journalist and eyewitness to the October Revolution in Russia. Reed’s account combines the urgency of frontline reporting with the depth of political analysis, offering readers an immersive perspective on a world-changing event.

This literary session, led by Denis Horan, will examine how war and revolution are chronicled not just through facts, but through experience. We’ll explore the boundary between journalism and literature, the ethical questions of witnessing, and the impact of ideology on storytelling.
